Grain/Noise Vray material Glass

#1

Hello,

i know there are several threads about vray glass and noise, but i didnt really find a topic that wouldve solved my problem. so i have a car and my glass wont stop producing this ugly noise. I tried bumping up the subdivs of the refraction and of the light sources, i tried out several options in the refraction tab, but the result is always the same: grainy and noisy

here is in example:

if you look on the backlight, the right one (i turned off the lights there) u can see the grain all over it. also on the right side at the door is some grain and noise. this picture rendered 40 minutes cause i set the refraction subdivs and the subdivs of 2 light sources to 64, but still looks like the one with 8 subdivs. i also have the refraction pass here and it shows that the noise is really just from the refraction:

So i really dont know how to get rid off this grain and noise, maybe you can help me

my vray rendersettings are like this:

i am using GI, with bruteforce (multiplier: 1) and light cache (multiplier:1)

Brute force subdivs are on 8, depth: 3

light cache subdivs:1000 and sampler size 0.010

id be happy about every help i get

Check the normals of the meshes to be sure its not that.

What is your max depth on the material under refration advanced?

Try bumping that up if its low.
Render the different passes(reflection, refraction, spec) to pinpoint where the problem comes from.

thanks for your reply

my max depth is at 7 right now, do you think its because of that? i cant try it out right now, cause im not at home but ill give it a shot asap!

i already pinpointed the problem to the refraction, i posted the picture of the refraction pass and it clearly comes from there

are you using any glossiness on the transparency? you can also try disable casting shadows for that glass object.
