GoZ Temp files - Where do they go?

#1

Call me a dope, but I can’t figure out where ZBrush stores the files required to get me into C4D with GoZ. In this case, geometry, texture and displacement maps.

I’m working with some pretty large files and don’t want them writing to my SSD constantly.

Any ideas how to change the cache locations for all of this stuff?

Hey Priest,

My GoZ temps are located here: C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default

I’m not sure about changing the cache path.

I can’t find an answer anywhere else either.
I’ve got 20gb of saved files on a 600gb SSD and I quite possibly could be writing this amount of crash data daily. That’s not a good outlook for my drive.

There’s some option to not store undo history, saving some space.
I wonder if I can block access to that folder, so nothing gets stored.

I did ask on the ZBC troubleshooting forum if we could use a different path to store these quick saves because its killing my windows SSD drive but I never received a response to it. What I do most of the time is turn off “enable saving” in undo since that seems to save the most data when sub d’s start going up.

you can delete quick save or goz files under the preferences menu,
you will see goz and all so quicksave
just increase the save time really high and you wont have to worry about it saving a lot of files,
far as changing the path look in C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZBrush
and look at the text files, i have not tried it but i think it should work,
make a back up copy before you do any thing

I meant change the path of the quicksaves. I already change the preferences. I have to or it will eat my c:\ drive. I spent my money on bigger drives for data not the drive I intended to use for windows. I’m surprised they made the quicksaves without the option to change the path to be honest. I don’t know many people who save their work on a windows drive if they have multiple drives. I hope there is an option to change it in zb5 or the next release.
