GoZ & Cinema 4D : Polygons selections to polygroups

Hey there,

Is there any way to have GoZ convert polygons selection in c4d into polygroups in ZBrush ? I’ve heard Riptide might help me with that, but I’d be glad if it could work directly with GoZ.

Just to make sure it’s clear… I want to build a model in cinema4D, make a few useful poly selections and then send this model to ZBrush, with all selections converted to polygroups.

i dont use c4d but if you have the groups set up with your UV
then take it to zbrush
tool>polygroup>auto group with UV

Thanks for the answer… but I was hoping to use ZBrush’s UV Master, with pre-determined groups, defined in c4d.

I haven’t found a way around this… I guess it’s just not possible, unless I use Riptide.

you want UV Master, with pre-determined groups?
what are you trying to do?
when most people want groups they determine them self.

i dont know what your trying to do or your motive?
you may need to explain another way

I don’t think you can do this with riptide. What you can do though is split the selections in c4d(remember to delete your selections on the original model after the split and rename one of them) then export everything through GoZ then merge the subtools if you want then use UVmaster and have the polygroups option selected.

I think with standard c4d tools you have to go the route informerman is pointing out above:

build a rough unwrap in C4D where every poly selection is a single uv island (it does not need to be clean, just a single island) and go to zbrush and derive the polygroup from uvws.
Now you can unwrap a clone of the tool with the polygroups in zbrush and transfer the proper uvws back to the original with UV Master Plugin.
Now you have both polygroups and good uvws on one tool.
