"Good Morning, Uprising!" - (AKA The GMU Project) An animated movie that needs help!

#1

Hello CG Forums! My name is HighSchoolHero, and over the past few months, I have been leading a team of scripters to develop a film called “Good Morning, Uprising!” The movie is a Minecraft movie, so if you don’t know anything about Minecraft, thats ok! This movie (proposal) does not actually deal with anything in depth. The references to the game are at a minimum, but I got the idea a few years ago, and have been vigorously trying to make it happen since a few months ago. Anywho, we still need help. The script is almost done, so we need to get storyboarding down, which we will start soon, and then voice acting, and then animating. (Animatic Movie too, but I don’t think anyone can really help with that) Anyways, I like to introduce the story before the opportunities of work, for I do like people to know what they are getting into!

Story
A young boy is caught in a war between two secret societies, after his caretaker is kidnapped. He must endure the trials to save him, along with taking down their master plan, and saving the world.

A bit over-used with the “save the world” thing, I can see, but other than that, this story is original! The movie is aimed at PG-13 for violence, strong language, and sexual references, but it is leaning towards R. (No, this isn’t going to theatres.)

So, how can you help? Well, what animating software do you use? Blender? Maya? C4D? Anything? That’s ok, I don’t mind.

“Wait, so does that mean anyone can use the software they are comfortable with?”

Yes. How? Meet Verse (QuelSolaar) It’s a program that allows multiple 3D programs to share data real-time. To put it in perspective, I am on Blender, and I have a cube in front of me. You are on 3DS Max, and you are seeing the same exact cube. I can grab the cube, and move it, and you’ll see it move. You can also move the cube, and I’ll see it move. We are on two different programs, yet we can work together!

So, what can you do? There’s a ton you can do, and not all of it is CG-related, so if you don’t feel you can accomplish, you can voice act, script, or just read on! So without further ado, the jobs!

Jobs
(Non-CG)

  • Voice Actor : (If you want to really help out, when you audition, go to this link , register, and then audition here .)

-Scriptor : (Going to need a Google Account to edit the GDoc.)

(CG)

  • Rigger : Creates rigs to be used in the film.

  • Animator : Animates the character. Deals with the F-curves and other aspects of movement.

  • Lipsyncher : Probably one of the easiest jobs. (In Blender (and a few plugins) ) Syncs audio with animation of mouths.

  • Lighting : Get’s lighting setup.

  • Compositor : Enhances imagery and makes it suitable for release.

  • Renderer : Takes the project file, and outputs it to make it a video file.

Anywho, thank you so much for reading! If you feel there is any info missing, please ask me, I will be happy to reply! This project is, obviously, voluntary, however, during release, everyone will be appropriately accredited.

Thanks for reading!
