Good Hardware Setup for Home Office?

#1

Hey guys!

I´m about to build my new home office and want to ask you about your opinion.
My main tools are Max & Vray/ VrayRT and After Effects.
I think about buying one main PC, i7-4930K or 4960X, gtx titan and a second render-pc, maybe another i7-4930K or 4960X, but cheaper gfx-card ( maybe gtx 750).
so the main focus is on cpu rendering (2* sixcores should be a decent setup for now, dont you think?) but still want to be prepared for some VrayRT or Octane stuff (thats why i thought about the titan card). any thoughts about the setup? is the titan worth the money compared to the gtx 780 (Ti) for GPU renderings? or would you suggest maybe two 780s instead of the the titan? a card like the gtx 750 should be enough for the rendernode, as it`s mainly used for distributed production rendering, right?

thanks in advance for any comments

cheers
ben

I Think you should wait a few weeks an go for the next generation chips like the 5820K (6 Core) or 5930K (6 Core).
Don’t think about the actual top of the line chips, really, you can read this everywhere. It’s a few 100 Mhz more for something like 400-500… The new one on the other hand will have 8 cores… might be interesting…
As for the gfx card dunno…you should think about the fact that the top of the line cards have a significant power draw and as I see that you’re Germany based where electricity isn’t exactly what I’d call cheap it might be worth thinking about a less demanding device than the titan.
