Golaem and Nuke - Learning

#1

Hello everyone.
I just finished an intensive course of CG here in Italy, and I am passionate about compositing (we studied After Effect, but I know that if I wanted to find a job in another Country, I would have to learn Nuke).

After that, I thought that I could study Nuke and to find a more specific work, I want to implement with the crowd simulation (Golaem).

How long does it take to learn both Nuke and Golaem, to build a showreel and start grow in some companies?
Do you think this is a good choice?

Let me know. Thanks.

Before you go too far into Golaem you’ll need to learn Maya as this is what Golaem interfaces with.
And if you end up working with Golaem you’ll likely be in a Maya pipeline it it seems to be the only supported
DCC for Golaem.

So I would probably start with learning Maya then get into the crowd thing.

Maybe I didn’t say that I already know Maya.

Right then.
I would say try both and see if you like doing one more than the other.
In most pipelines you likely wouldn’t have the time to do both on the same show anyway.

It is quite likely the crowds will render most seemlessly as an asset imported back into the maya pipeline
as opposed to rendering in Golaem (where you’d have to match specific looks and lighting). Easier to let Lighting
do it with everything else.

Therefore you might have less need for Nuke than say an FX artist (who needs to comp - say smoke/fire with the rest of the shot to get approved).
But if you like doing comp maybe you’d want want to focus on it instead.

There are less jobs in crowds but less people with that knowledge as well. But not every show is a ‘crowd show’. For comp there are more jobs but more competition as well. You have to be very good.

First of all, thank you. You’re being very clear. I am more focused on the compositing way. I think I am going to learn Nuke some way. I think 3 months of learning is a good start, isn’t it?

Its probably enough to see if you like it/comp enough to focus in that direction.

To get good enough to land a job can take years.
Remember comp is pretty much the final stage of the pipeline.
Its up to you to make everyone before you look ‘good’. You are the gate keeper for final output.

no pressue…

If you want to learn the Golaem and Nuke then you need to learn the writing content practice which helps to find the best Job in another country. Most of the students always get the best edubirdie content with the help of writing service options to learn the different languages to get a job.
