ok I REALLY want to buy some Gnomon DVDs for learning things like textureing and basic modeling …things like that but the only DVDs i have access to buy here are for maya im just wondering if learning from DVDs that are for maya are ALOT differnt for just learning with use for 3Dsmax sence thats what i use mostly
so my question is “Can i buy Gnomon DVDs that are for maya and use them for learning more for 3Dsmax” I know the tools and short cuts are differnt and things but will they be so differnt that they cant be useful for 3dsmax 7?
I know basicly where everything is in 3dsmax 7 …just not how to bring them together and make pretty things hehe.
If it’s max you’re interested in, I’d recommend some video tutorials from 3d Palace. I splurged and picked up their Ultimax dvd which is an insanely detailed mech project. IIRC the dvd is about 80 hours of instruction or something like that (I’m only part way through).
If you don’t want to pay, they also have some very good free video tutorials.
Many people may disagree with me, but I’m finding working through these tutorials is a great way to really learn the 3ds max interface, the various tools and their uses, plus lots of great tips. Personally, I learn best through doing, so I can’t recommend these tutorials enough.
You could also check out 3d Total and Kurv studios which also have dvd series, many of which are focused on max. Kurv has a decent dvd on texture creation which taught me a ton about Photoshop as well.
