Glowing Robot eye

Hey. I’m modeling a robot and I’ve started texturing. I want to make his eye glow and look evil, sort of like the ones the Decepticons from Transformers have:

How would I go about to make something like this in Maya 2012? Using simple glow effects on a lambert won’t get me what I want x( Thanks in advane for the help.

theres not much glow in the samplepic you posted, its more about selfillumination and it looks like they painted in some unnatural reflections of it too to exagerate the effect

Hmm, yeah. Maybe I should just go for post work in Photoshop instead D:

or you can use small lights in front of the eyes to get the same effect

I’m using mentalray with Final Gather turned on with default settings. There are no lights in the scene.

For this next one, assign a mia_material_x. Then, in the Attributes, go down to Advanced and find Additional Color; hit the little checkerboard box to bring up the Create Render Node dialog and choose mia_light_surface under the Mental Ray section (it’s about 1/4 down, the icon is yellow-ish with a blue arrow).
