I tried submitting this to the gallery, but the piece got rejected. I’m not disappointed, but would love to get some critique on it to help improve it up to the gallery standards

I didn’t see this piece, so I didn’t get to vote on it. I’m assuming it got rejected because the judges thought it was kind of boring? That whole red structure on the right/bottom dominates your composition, yet it’s not very interesting to look at, since it’s kept kind of monochromatic and without interesting lighting. The other areas of the image are more interesting in lighting and colors, but because they are blocked by the red structure, they don’t have as much effect. Perhaps if you re-light this scene so the the red structure is a lot more dynamic/interesting to look at?
Thank you Robert. I myself was struggling with this huge amount of flat red area. At some point I thought that it looked good as is and submitted =)
I think I’ll revisit this at someday, I have few ideas about how I can change lighting to make it more interesting.
