George Bridgman

“Dammit! What’s that feeling inside my head! Is it my conscience? Nah… I locked that away in the basement years ago. Oh crap, its motivation…”

On that note, I decided to start this thread.

As part of Gnomon Live this past weekend. (BTW, either you know what that is and were attending as well or you don’t and at this point I must direct you to this page to brush up. Don’t worry, this thread isn’t going anywhere, and don’t feel too bad afterward that you missed it. They happen every six months and at least as far as I’m concerned, have yet to disappoint.) Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah.,As part of Gnomon Live this past weekend, we were fortunate to have an individual by the name of Marshall Vandruff unleash a floodgate of knowledge upon us in 90 minutes in what to him must have been like pulling a glass of water out of the Potomac. His subject for the talk was the drawings of George Bridgman. Many of you probably already know who he is so I’ll now apologize for being a newbie-no-talent-hack-fanboy-wannabee who is shamed in being clouding the forums and diluting the integrity of REAL artists. Continuing on with is post that looking back, appears to be going nowhere, but going nowhere in-style, I am intrigued by the subject of Mr. Vandruff’s talk much in the same way a fantasy-football user is of “exactly how many hookers did the QB he’s starting have the night before the big game?” In short:

Where and what are the best resources for George Bridgman?

Hahahahaha! The mummey returns!

Bridgman's books are still very much in print. I've got an original copy of one of his books which I might be coerced into showing you if you go landscape painting with us next weekend. :D

Here's a link to Bridgman's stuff on amazon.com. I've got a bunch of his paperbacks, unknown to you, you helped move them to HB. ;) Since I don't lend books, especially not drawing books (I'm terrible myself with borrowing books, I keep them, so never lend me any) I definitely recommend ordering some off of amazon. I have "The Human Machine" and "Constructive Anatomy" and would recommend them. :)

Wait wait wait…does this mean you are going to…draw? (Note: anytime you feel self conscious about drawing, just picture me trying to code, that will give you a decent chuckle and get you past your mental block ;))

Incidentally, my pictures from the Gnomon Workshop are up here:
