In a comparison of tablets in the recent 3DWorld, this came out as a clear winner. I know most people here prefer the Wacom Intuos3, but what do you think of this tablet?
Genius Pensketch 9x12
the best thing is to try before you buy
some of my observasion would be-
the battery will make the pen very heavy, i find the wacom pen heavy (because im used to real pencils) i could not stand a battery pen.
altough this tablet is big some ppl find it harder to work on a big tablet- you might preferr small.
i would consider a small wacom instead if i was you, you get what you pay for- theres a reason wacoms are quite expensive- they are the best in every way.
try a wacom and the other tablet in a store and youll see the difference for yourself- if you cant see a diffference then you can consider the cheap one. but as most ppl know for experience cheap products are a false economy the wacom will probabaly last twice as long ect…
also you may pick up a older wacom on ebay for very little ( i have a intous 2 and its the best thing i ever bought)
just my 2 cents
all the best

The question comes down to do you do 3D or do you do 2D.
If you do more 3D then the genious would be better do to the programable surface on the tablet. Wacom has some keys on the side but no where near the customazation of the genius.
If you do 2D you will want a wacom. Even if you like the programable hot spaces, the wacom tilt and rotation sensative makes the tablet godly compared to the genius in the world of 2D. In 3D you will not need barrel-rotation and tilt “as much”, in ZBrush you will feel it but not like… in Maya or 3DSMax. And to be honist if you are strictly looking for 3D work you should look at a 3D mouse as opposed to a pad.
