"Genesis" character rigs demo

#1

Hi everybody!
I recently finished these three character rigs for a series of commercials produced by The Frank Barton Company. Here’s a brief video demo of how the rigs work.

They were built in Maya without using any external tools or plug-ins. The schedule was quite tight so the rigs were built to fit just the specific animation needs of each character in order to keep them simple enough and have them finished right on time. They were done in around 70 hours of work each one. It was great to work with these nice designs!

Hope you like it!
Cheers

Hey Victor,

I’ve probably watched this 80 times and counting. This one is even more amazing than the last. Huge fan. Your rigs are like hand drawn animation. Amazing!

I’ve read through many of the posts you’ve made here on CG society and I thank you for the information you’ve provided. Very helpful.

Am I correct in noticing that your methods have evolved since your last demo reel. For the facial rigging in your “Business Man” demo, it seems that for the most part, the emphasis in on blendshapes, with secondary controls riding on top. While in your newest demo, it seems that the controls on the face are driving the blendshapes. At least some of them.

Can you shed some light on the facial rigging in your new reel?

Thank you, beautiful work!
