Generi-Like Rig

#1

HI Guys,

I am new to LIghtwave and I would like to know if somebody knows a tutorial to do a rig like Generi for Maya, which you can select the bones by clicking on some shapes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

ahh…like a GUI picker…there great. I’ve got one in Maya too from Jason Ryan Animation. I haven’t seen anything like this yet for rigs with in LW. But in the mean time here is a link to some great rigs to play with: http://www.spinquad.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12458&highlight=animation+mentor

Check some of the later pages, they were relinked. If you still can’t get them PM me and I’ll send them to you.

Thank you for the link Larry. I will check what can I found there.

For the GUI part, you may want to take a look to Character Picker from Jacobo Barreiro though I haven’t tried with last LW version, there are others character pickers too (commercial options).

I’m assuming you’re talking about control objects. If so, then yes, but they’re not created using curves although i’m sure you could. Instead, create a null, and in the geo tab there should be something like null shape or something, you can choose between several different shapes and colors(active and unactive). I haven’t touched lw for about 3 years though so I could be wrong.

You can make/model whatever control object you want.
There’s a Lscript in the manual that converts any model into a nullobject.
So it doesn’t render.
On Flay.com there’s even a collection of Control objects in some plug I think.

Maestro also uses a custom GUI for selecting and moving rigs, highly recommended for rigging.
