Gamma 2.2 for the Uninitiated

#1

Hi All,

I thought I'd share this link that I found very informative. If you're anything like me and you approached this whole 3d thing without formal training you've likely missed this.

There’s often reference to gamma when rendering or compositing and I never quite “got it”. Well here’s an explanation.

hope it helps someone!

Linear work flow is now part of the color managent since Blender 2.5

I took a look at your link and as far as I could tell there is nothing to be done on the part of the user to ensure that Blender uses a Linear workflow. It just compensates colors to sRGB for the users perception. Am I wrong? Are there additional steps that I need to do in my workflow?

The reason I ask is that in my original link they mentioned that in Vray you needed to adjust the gamma from 1.0 to 2.2 in the rendering pipeline.

Sorry I'm quite a noob when it comes to this. I'm just trying to get my head around it.

That’s right, it’s all taken care of internally.
