Games, Modeling and Texturing

#1

Are there any differences in the way that I texture in Maya and the way textures are applied in a game? If I model an object in Maya and export the appropriate geometry and save the textures in a compatible format should they look/act the same?

I am wanting to get into game addons/mods more and I have not found any good resources for explaining the process.

When you export the model, the file format exported to usually retains the UVs of the model so all you have to do is apply the texture to the model via shaders. The textures should fit practically the same, but the renders may look differently since games do not use the Maya renderer to render the image.

Ok. That’s what I assumed. I need to play around with this more. I think I’ll start with UT2K4.

This has a good rundown on texturing for games.
