Game Engine 101

Hi guy’s i’ve read your sticky post about what’s the best game engine for indie companies and so on. But i have a real concern with the visual quality of the engines, the torque engine looks robust but as stated the visuals are crappy what’s the best engine for great visuals, i know i won’t get unreal3 looks but i want to get a powerful redering engine can you guy’s help me plz. on this i’ve seen some pic’s of the c-4 engine and the ingine, if i said it right i’m looking at the reaity engine but i haven’t got any word from the companyas of yet , so can you guy’s help me!! my budget is 3,000 for a powerful engine with many features. :bounce:

Quest3d - go to their site and be amazed! Their graphics are insane. The demos blew me away lol

Thanks for your advice i was wandering could anyone find any games that was made by the game engines that gameboy listed, other than tribes or tribes 2 cause they look really dated IMHO, i don’t want that look to my games, we’re launching our website in march 2006, my team have already scripted a story for our main 3 games, and we want to start off with java games for cell phones first to get more revenune, for our bigger projects to caome, any word on game engines for cell phones or portable devices, gameboy seems to know a bit of everything about anything!. :curious:

I’ve been messing with Gamemaker (www.gamemaker.nl) which is just plain awesome if you are into 2D games (which is really about my speed atm…) From what I’ve seen so far I think you could make nearly any kind of 2D game.
