[font=Arial]Position: Game Designer[/font]

The Game Designer is responsible for assisting the Lead Designer in creating and communicating the game’s vision, and helping the team to make that vision a reality. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication, as well as a fundamental understanding of every area of game development. The designer must have the ability to work with and inspire software engineers, artists, animators, and audio designers.

Responsibilities:

· Fulfill game-related design and writing tasks.

· Implement and document gameplay and employ consensus to improve the game design and vision.

· Communicate the vision of the game to team, management, and other departments.

· Assist the Design Lead in overseeing the implementation of features.

· Consistently review the progress of the game and adjust the implementation of the features to match the vision.

· Create, document and prepare a variety of concepts for production.

· Formalize and pitch concepts for features and gameplay; responsible for taking feedback from those pitches and integrating it into the process.

· Utilize tools provided by the project team to implement gameplay as directed by the documented vision of the Lead Designer of that project.

· Document the gameplay of the game in a consistent and comprehensive format (documentation in sufficient detail to allow production team to replicate the gameplay implementation in the absence of the Designer).

· Employ consensus to improve gameplay - be proactive in changing the design based upon objective and subjective feedback.

· Provide competitive feedback by reviewing and analyzing competing games.

· Provide support to games in production by providing feedback to other designers on ideas, features, gameplay, and design documents.

· Be self-driven - Produce work in an efficient and timely manner, adhering to an agreed-upon schedule.

[font=Arial]Required Skills & Abilities:[/font]

· [color=black]Ideally, 2 years design experience in the gaming industry with at least one shipped title. [/color]

· Well-versed in at least one area of gameplay mechanics design, level design, or content design.

· Demonstrated ability to innovate as well as work within the confines of an existing IP.

· Effective communication skills. Documentation and verbal communication are essential aspects of the job.

· Excellent writing skills. Ability to organize and document ideas so that other team members can understand them.

· Quick learner. The ability to learn new techniques and tools quickly and effectively.

· High personal standards as demonstrated in quality and pride of work.

· Fluent in design and production software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Adobe Illustrator, Maya and other 3D modeling programs)

· Knowledgeable of all aspects of game production.

· Genuine passion for games as a craft.

[li]Experience on multiple platforms and game genres a plus.
[/li][li]Proven ability in another [color=black]discipline (i.e. Art) is a definite plus.[/color]
[/li][li]Understanding of motion capture and animation as it relates to gameplay design.
