GAC 11: Young Wolverine

#21

OK! I know that Canada has got seasons… but i think is more impressive to see somebody in a snow field with only a trousers (like my first concept).

It’s possible that i use a spring enviroment for the final image, with wolverine runs with wolves around him.

looking good! his pecs seem like they go down toward his armpits a little too much, but i love the arm muscles and face, nice work! And I think if you’re doing a young wolverine then he pretty much has to be in the snow with wolves, I believe that is a rule someplace…

modeling hands …

(I always start from the finger-edge (nails?) and build one finger, then copy it and i have the hand…)

here is the process:

#24

beautiful! the last segment of the thumb (the segment with the nail) seems a little too short. awesome otherwise

#25

thank you!

i need to improve the back side.

#26

Really nice modelling!!! Love it!
But I’d give him longer blades! But that’s just a little thing

#27

looking really nice sergio. where’s your poly count at? will you have enough to sub patch or mesh smooth and freeze out the result? or will you be using smoothing groups in the final?

if i had to crit anything, i’d say that a bicep that size probably needs to be a little more square edged (and that a correspondingly enormous triccep wouldn’t go astray).

keep it coming

cheers

This model is for the normal map and for reference.
i’ll build a low res model over this high res model.
i like to work (first) on high res and optimize to get the low res.

(i hope you understand my method)

Looking good. The face matches the character perfectly. His arms could use more deltoid and less biceps. The abs and lower back could use more detailed anatomy. Excellent work so far.

#30

Also a but more definition in his back. He looks strong in the front and semi fat in the back. Kinda wierd but overall real cool.

Start adding his hair already. Thats what makes him who he is!

#31

right, i need to work on this model… (specially trouser and back side)
wolverine’s hair is so hard!!! what kind of hair is this???
well, i’ll try to do best.

#32

Sergio Santos good progress, make Wolf’s claws longer and yep you could do the hair a lil better…

i’ve attached a quick wacom don’t know if it’s correct to the comic or movie, but it should help you out on the basic shape.

#33

pretty cool, but you are gonna make it appear more different than “just” wolverine right?
That’s what’s really gonna get my interest.

hanzo -> thank you very much for your quick reference, i think i’ll start again the hair.

neil -> yes… my idea was to do wolverine when he was young (about 20 years old), maybe teenager… when he discovered his bone claws and when he had (at first time) the hunter instinc, when he chased wolves at the mountains. To do this i would like to give to my model a younger appearance, but it haven’t got
Other question was to explore a half-naked strong man body (it sounds bad… ),
i wanted to build a extra detailed bump mapping using a high mesh, always keeping the best anatomy possible.

I enroled to this challenge to practise some techniques, to explore muscle anatomy and to apply some ideas that i had in my mind (for fighting games models).

I’ve seen a few games based on x-men or wolverine, and i don’t like the 3d models of wolverine. I would like to do something better.

I see that a lot of things that i had in my mind aren’t in my model, but I only wanted to learn (and the cgtalk community help me a lot of), thank you very much to everybody who has replied to this thread.

I’ll probably can’t finish on time, but i’ll try it and i’ll finish it some day.
