GAC#11: Stalin - The leader of USSR

Stalin, hammer, sickle, need I say more. Backround story to follow.

Started on the head. I’m aiming for 2000 - 2500 tris, it’s now 1900 and completely unoptimized. The texture is just the reference picture planar mapped on the model.

Done with the head, 2520 tris. No story yet as I haven’t had any good (=twisted) enough ideas.

Good start, looks like you got the shape of the head quite right. I like the subject you chose as well. Very original to have a politician in there. Why didnt I think of that :stuck_out_tongue:

I would suggest doing his moustache as a seperate object with alpha’s for the hairs. I think this would look better for closeups.

Wow real nice model tomiloy, this has a great likeness to Stalin and also I nice choice of character! I’d do what Supervlieg suggested about the moustache and raise it up a bit with cool alphas, anyway i can’t wait to see more this entry is looking well good!

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll have to think about the moustache, I’m not a big fan of alpha maps, but I’ll try if I can do anything decent looking. As the polylimit is now 15k I’m also going to add more details to the face, the new goal is about 4000 tris. Here are some specs and a story for him:

Game: Dictator Deathmatch

Character: Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili a.k.a. Joseph Stalin
Age: 87
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 185 cm
Weight: 125 kg
Weapons: Hammer and sickle

Story:
On 25th of April 1986, a group of aging Red Army officers put into action a plan to bring back the old might of Soviet Union. Harnessing the powers of all four reactors of the Chernobyl nuclear plant, they managed to create a portal through space and time to the year 1948. A team of five spetsnaz operators and a Stalin look-alike was sent back in time on a mission to capture and replace Stalin. The mission was a success.

After the drugged Stalin was brought through the wormhole, it suddenly collapsed. As there was now nothing to consume the immence energy produced by the reactors, the chain reaction got out of control. In the resulting explosion the body of Stalin was severely mutilated, he was also subjected to huge amount of gamma radiation.

Now, after nearly two decades in suspended animation, medical scientist were finally able to give Stalin a new body, a body fit for a leader. Stalin is back, and he has a goal, to unite the whole world under the red flag. He won’t let anybody stand on his way…
