Makie is the only person in Blade of the Immortal who can kill the leader of the Ittou Ryu - Anotsu Kagehisa. A genius swordswoman who is reluctant to travel down the bloody path of the Samurai.

Outstanding manga, amazing more people haven’t caught on to how good it is. I wanna see what you do with this… Makie’s first fight with Manji is 50 or 60 pages of the best sword fight I’ve seen illustrated.
Yikes it’s been a while… @_@; I hope I’m not late w/ my submission. I did some digging and finally came up with a design I was fairly satisfied with…
I had to research “alternative” Kimono designs. This one is actually based on Morning Musume’s Sakura Gumi “Sakura Mankai” style ^^;
Basically most of the trouble I had was trying to escape the impending DOA look that was occuring when I tried to redesign Makie’s outfit. Kasumi from DOA, for example, has a very similar stylized look… so a lot of my effort went into getting away from that. Oh and I also spent time learning to draw marginally well again x_x; My skillz are gone! hahaha!
PS- Thanks for the supporting words I’ll do my best. Tell me what you think of the design.
Just a quick update to let you guys know I’m still alive ;D
I’ve been working on her face for a little while… I wanted to nail the face first since I feel that it’s the most important thing on a character. It’s not quite done yet though and needs refinement. (Hair will be coming next I think).

Ohmi I thought this would be a bad model to manga adaptation, but That head looks like you can take on this great reposability.

Sorry I’m a slowpoke… but I’ve gotten into it more recently… here’s another update ^^;
Working on the hair and body proportions currently.
Looks like I’m not going to finish this on time for the contest. Sorry guys 
Work took priority. I still plan to finish it so I’ll keep posting updates when I can on the regular forum. This is the first challenge I participated in… so I feel bad that I couldn’t finish it.
