GAC 11 - Alexander Graham Bell (placeholder)

#1

Bit of a copout as obvious what his weapon is going to be…
Will post concepts when ready.

cheers.

#2

Man…an image of this character wieding a phone for a weapon is pretty cool, I think. He could use the cord to toss the phone out then snap it back to his grip.
On a totally different angle…I thought of a female version with a finishing move named none other than the Star-Sixty-Nine! :scream:

I get too much spam mail, I suppose.

#3

I guess another ‘Huge Muscle Bound’ character in this comp won’t hur’t. ha!

Wanted something simple, as I think the character designs in Street Fighter are some of the best. Hence, something simple…

cheers.

#4

Maybe this concept…

cheers

Edit: Prolly not clear in the pic, but the old school phone system is 2 tin cans and a piece of string.

Edit2: Removed image for 56kers.

#5

More a superhero than anything…

cheers.

#6

That’s great! I can just picture this guy beating the cramp out of people witht the phone.

#7

Think I got the eyes sorted (and yes, I gave him a pony tail as well).
Character sheets next, then to the modelling.

cheers.

#8

character sheet. modelling next.

cheers.

stuff-

- anatomically incorrect, but that’s okay. Going for silhouette

  • defining feature: massive shoulders, I like the delt/tri/lat tie in on the back. Shows power
  • went a bit overboard with the striations in the arms… he’s going to be less define. Looks weird as drawn from memory… couldn’t be arsed to reference anatomy book
  • head is a bit far forward in profile. prolly need to make him thick in profile as well
  • 70’s style collar, big and oversized
  • modern boots. Blundestones no less… go Aussies
  • hands look gimp… as does the boots from behind, should be okay once modelled
  • expect phone to be standard size. Not sure if need to upsize to fit hands, but I want the effect that even a small phone with his bulk is going to hurt a lot
  • he’s going to move on his hands and feet, gorilla like

That’s crazy! Is that what happens to you when you use the phone in a thunderstorm? Looks like he’s been surgically combined with a shaved Silverback. And just think how frustrating poor old Alexander Gorilla Bell would find his own invention now. Can you imagine him trying to punch out an SMS on a new cell with those hands?

Keep it coming. I like where this is going a lot.

cheers

cheers obelisk.

update.

  • roughing out head, etc. 1374 tris… only 13,626 left to go :frowning:
(ears are from another model of mine. Not sure if this breaks the rules)

cheers.

#11

looking good so far. will you be modelling the hair/facial hair as a solid part of the mesh, or are you going to add it in over the top? there’s such a high polycount on this comp that you could probably afford to continue the loops you’re terminating in his forehead.

keep it coming man.

cheers

cheers obelisk.

Update:

I think the lights/shadows are falling okay now. Spent way too much time on the eye area. Still not happy with it though. Whatever. Running out of time so no more mucking around

Moustache will be solid, like the hair and eyebrows. The beard will be alpha mapped because it’s more curly.

Still heaps to do…

cheers.

#13

awsome character design man.
the arms might be a bit over the top thought.

can’t wait to see how u pull the rest off thought

#14

Nice update!

I really like the head. Very stylish.

#15

ta guys.

update: Roughing out.

  • Placeholders for feeling (bow tie, collar, belt), so will be changed
  • Hands pinched from another model of mine to see if the large arms balance, hence they look rather gimp. Proper hands to be built later.
  • Likely to oversize the belt buckle as well.

I think the silhouette works and the contrasts between large (arms) and thin (legs) works well.

Still lots to do. Currently at 3,898 tris… don’t know how you guys work high poly. 15,000 tris is heaps.

cheers.
