FXWars: SUPERPOWERS!: Super Beginnings by: Ian Farnsworth and Terance Tucker

#1

Well it looks like i may have an entry after all. This is serving as a final project also, so it works out real well for me and Terance.

We went a completely different route than what we originally shot (had a few gag shots) That footage was kinda blurry and not that well set up… so we actually came up with a storyline. We didn’t actually draw anything out (I suck at drawing, and Terance was being lazy), so we kind of just wrote out our script and went to it with somebody who is a little better at using a camera (GL2). So I don’t really have any test renders / progress reports, I’ll just be uploading the finished piece tomorrow night… better than nothing, right?!

The project is called:

Super Beginnings

The storyline is very basically this: A guy (me actually, and I’m a horrible actor) who doesn’t know what’s going on inside of him… he’s kinda feeling a little under the weather… he needs some water, but for some reason his faucet isn’t working… he goes to the store… his chest is burning and such (I shoulda done better acting)… the store is closed (geeze, right!?) next thing you know he’s in a fight or flight kind of situation, and all of a sudden BLAMMO… you see the beginning of something “super”!

We’ll be finishing tonight on the effects/post portion of it and finishing all editing (titles and sound) tomorrow. Hopefully it comes out as good as we hope it does!

Oh man, the surprise-last-minute-entry! Can’t wait to see what his super power is :bounce:

hehe… it’s not really that amazing… =)

Oh yeah — forgot to mention we’re probably going to make these super beginnings as a small series, mostly because they’re good practice. We’ll probably start at easy (this one) and work our way up to harder, more interesting stuff. After this one I’m not sure what effect we’ll go for, but whatever.

This one is actually pretty simple… really last minute unfortunately. I’ve been workin’ (at work, not working on fun stuff) way more than I usually do. (and hating it!) So this is a little on the cheese n ease side of things. No fancy fluid effects for me! At least not on this one… I really wish I could do more to it, but oh well that’s what I get for having a job and going to school!

Ok… since they’re due here goes nothin’… minus some editing changes (and adding real sound) that we would make if we had more time which I’m sure you guys will all point out  and my crappy acting skills (should’ve been wayyy more intense I think) …and not to mention Terance messing up my name in the credits… :banghead: We’re still both pretty happy with it.

The name was also changed to Super Begins because Beginnings looks really awkward, so I think we’re going to revise the strategy there too at some point.

Hope you all enjoy it:
