FXWars! Lighthouse & the Wave!: Yann Goument , Freeform

hi all

i can t resist to play with this one! :slight_smile:
and here s what i have after a first shot.
i really dont know where i will go with this… anyway, lets start the fun.

so Lightwave particles and dynamics, few polys for the lighthouse and 800 000 particles.
for now its just a box for generating the particles, i will try to put a better shape for the wave befor hitting the lighthouse.

WOW! Nice! Did you set the particles to bounce on collision to achieve this effect?

@raylistic : yes i set the lighthouse and rocks as collision object(its one object), bounce to 50% only to avoid excessive speed after collision.
and to have the particle going up like this after the splash, i put an extra wind who push up the particle at this time.
i put 3 more wind object : one to make the particle “fly” and give it some “size”, one to make the wind who push the wave, and a last one to add noise in the wave before the crash.

so second try, with a shape for the wave, compare to the box i use on the fisrt try.
looks a little bit better, but that need work.
i have try to make the wave falling before the crash, but its not really this for now…

i remove the splash in 2 times i have done in the first test, but not sure if its better or not. the first one gives a little bit more weight i think.

Looks good!!! And i’m sure you already know this but just wanted to point out that after the particles collide they freeze. Good work!!!

Nice particules effect.
But do you use lightwave for that?
Lightwave is it made to make lighthouse and wave automaticaly (light wave)?
Is it possible to add more particules?

technologie is so good nowadays! a simple button and hop! a lighthouse and a wave! :smiley:

so, going on with some fun!
i add a plane with a gradient displace, and some more particle(1.2 million particles now. think we can go way more up!! :slight_smile: ) to see how it look. and something who should become the rain soon…
think i will go with this technic.

so, as everybody, time is the biggest ennemi…
and after few tweak tonight, here s what i have.
im not sure about the timing, or the ‘sensation’ of power a wave can have when crashing against a rock when it become oversized…
i have try to put a ‘natural look’ to the sea with some displacement map, and combine particles with this to make the ‘wave crashing against the lighthouse’ effect.
anyway, here s what i have tonight so far.
and dont speak about the problem i have for the render part… :slight_smile:
