FXWars! Lighthouse & the Wave: Phil Potter, Freeform

Greetings, fellow artists. This is my first FXWars challenge, and I look forward to learning a lot through my own participation and through watching others.

I am using Blender and Photoshop for this challenge, and I am rendering a basic wave test as we speak. I have also included a color/mood test image. The feel I am going for is similar to that at the end of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”. I’d love any ideas, suggestions, comments, or critiques you can give, as I’m very new to the department of simulation.

I have blocked in the three shots that will comprise the video, a wide shot, a middle shot (not sure if that is the correct term or not), and a close up shot, all from different angles. It’s just displacement and wave modifiers at the moment; I am currently working on the splash part. More info on the video can be seen in the video description. Tell me what you think.
