FXWARS Discussion Thread: STAR WARS 30th Anniversary (Lets talk)

#1

Hey guys, welcome to the first FXwars Discussion thread. The idea of these rare threads is to discuss the films the influenced the art of Visual effects.

And I tought it would be appropiate to start with the movie that launched dreams of millions
across the world.

So lets start with a little film called Star wars.

30 years ago those words were shown in movie screens for the first time and it foerever changed the film industry. On May 25th 1977 Star Wars had it north american release, and
it would grow to be one of the most success full film franchaises ever.
To understand the impact Star wars on has to view the era of the 70s.
After a disatrous decade cinissm was in vogue and the concept of the summer blockbuster was fairly new (It was introduced two years earlier in 1975 with the movie Jaws).

Star Wars reintroduced the concept of the 1930’s -40’s swahbucling serials to a new generation and 30 years later the saga is still strong…

So I have opened this first discussion thread on the fxwars forum to discuss the technical merits of the visual effects of the Star Wars Saga.
ker
