FumeFx + Windows 7

#1

Has anyone successfully installed FumeFX on a Windows 7 machine? I can get the installer to run but when it comes to authorizing it using the Turbosquid Auth box inside of Max it keeps giving me errors saying that it cannot connect to the internet. (Even though I can browse it using my browser.)

Just wondering if anyone else has come up against this issue.

is it a permission issue maybe? I had turn off all the new User Rights Management Crap. Max runs as Administrator in WinXP-SP3 Mode…

Yeah I have tried that as well… no luck so far. I thought it might be the newest reelase of Fume1.2e but that’s not it… I honestly think it is something to do with the DCPFlics licensing when it tries to contact to Turbosquid. I have read somethreads about it not being fully compatible with IE8 but I’m not using IE8 as my default browser.

I have contactd TS so we’ll see what they say…

Not sure if this is the same err I had (I know I had -a- error tho), I believe you have to set FumeFX.ini (Plugins/AfterWorks/FumeFX) to have full rights, if not it’ll say something about it not being able to write (or something like that). When you’ve got it just right click > security > give out the rights.
(It might be some file in the DCPFlics aswell that needs the rights, can’t really remember :))

Did not have a problem installing FFX under Windows 7 Pro x64, FumeFX 1.2e. It does connect okay to Turbo Squid. Maybe contact them and see if they can help.

First, did you check your firewall settings? (is dpflics allowed) If I recall correctly, it is possible to do a manual registration, just call them and get the necessary info.

You are probably using an old FumeFX installer without the IE8 fix. Somehow IE8 and DPFLICS are not working the same way as IE7 and DPFLICS. Its a common wellknown problem. Download a new installer from the Sitni Sati site and it should work or fix it manually as discribed on the NPOWER website.

I’m experiencing a slow down in Win7-64 too.
It freezes max sometimes during a preview process. It seams as if fuem would not utilize all potential poerformance. My old machine (xp-32, 3 gig ram) outperformed my new one (win7-64, 4 gig ram) in some tests with identical max files.

I’ve done this it fixes the problem! :applause:

Thanks for all the suggestions people! I tried them all and had no luck but after chatting with Beau over at Turbosquid it turns out all we needed was a new serial number.

Back up and running!

Thanks again!
