Fumefx keeps crashing!

#1

Hey everyone, I’ve been using fumefx for about several months now and as I worked on highend projects I had to increase the quality, now after every simulation with high quality, it just crashes. I have 4 gigs of ram but my 32 bit system only detects 3 of them for some reason. Anyone know how to fix this problem because I really would love to start simulating these high quality simulations. Thanks!

XP64 or other 64-bit OS. Sounds like you are already using the 3gig switch and that is about all you are going to get, unfortunately.

Oh wait, I misread it, I only have 2 gigs max. I heard that disk swapping also works but I don’t see an option for it in fumefx 1.2 in preferences. Can you explain how to do the 3 gig switch and the disk swapping as well? Thanks!

3gig switch:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx

That pref. was removed in 1.2, it would be my guess that it wasn’t functioning properly. Since even with it checked you would crash if out of memory.

Does the 3gb switch work in windows 7 beta I mean.

I have same problem when using 32bit system…
I cant push my ‘spacing’ at fumefx…always crash…until my system using 64bit and 8 gig ram… very smooth…no crash…and very stable…

my suggest is you must change to 64bit…definitely…

if we are doing simulation such as fumefx, realflow or other simulation…must go 64bit…and minimum ram is 4 gig…8 is better…

dont use 32bit for simulation…it will make stresss…

I guess it’s time to do the 64 gb switch, I have to reinstall everything in 64 bit though =(.
