FumeFX - Is it possible to retime Wavelet Cache?

#1

Hi there,

I just have a quick question. I’ve never been able to retime a cached Wavelet Turbulence simulation as the velocity channel doesn’t seem to be available in the WT cache after simulation, even if I leave ‘Exclude Channel: Velocity’ unchecked before sim.

Is that how FumeFX works or does mine have a problem?

Thanks!

You need to manually add velocity and temp you can get a retime to work on a wavelet.

So setup:

  1. Create and tweak your grid
  2. Add velocity and temp channels in the Channels Output
  3. Enable the Extra Detail Wavelet
  4. Sim
  5. Switch to wavelet mode and sim
  6. Switch to post mode, switch cache to wavelet, and post process - retime
  7. Switch to post cache

Hi Johnny,

Yeah I ran another test afterwards and it was fine. The problem was that I was using amckay’s Fumer script. It just had a minor syntax error in it. Had to change a few ‘=’ to a ‘==’ and that fixed the problem!

Thanks!

MWaahahahaaa that is because everybody should be using my script! j/k :stuck_out_tongue:

I would officially release it but the hell if i want to write a doc for it

Anyway here it is if you want a whack at it. It is pretty much is a batch FumeFX sim, wavelet, post, render, email and tell me how it is going script. The crazy thing is all the folder flags, it will basically build on the fly folders for each sim based on scene name, node name, date, time, custom, ect. It will do that for both sim and render folders. It is kinda automatic as it can get just make sure your Output channels are setm that is about the only thing that will stop it from running all the way through.

Have Fun

EDIT: oh it is an .mzp (not encrypted just packaged) you NEED to run it through the Maxscript Menu->Run Script or it won’t load the icons or the C# .dlls for the email functions.
Then create a shortcut from the Customize User Dialog->Catergory->JRandom->FFXBBQ

Hey thanks for that
Handy to have so many options in the one interface.

I’ll give it a test run and see how I go!
