FumeFx GI Quality?

#1

Hi I have simulated out a test fire for a project that I’m working on, but the GI from the fire have really low quality, how can I get better fumefx GI? I am using vray 2 and I have tested mentalray, and finalrender R3.5 render all have the same problem, the simulation is 400x400x240 and with WT 800x800x480

Vray:
illumination High animation
light cache 1000

Computer:
CPU: two x5650 4ghz (total threads 24)
RAM: 49gb 1600mhz
MB: EVGA classified SR2

ya this is a good idea in theory, we’ve been testing this at work and it just seems to take a while to render with anything decent.

In my opinion (and mine only), it seems more efficient to simply use standard lighting techniques to accomplish this (fx are going to be rendered separately anyways).

Another cool idea is using Frost to mesh your fume sim (or well try to mesh the fire anyways) and then having that mesh be a light material - still would lead to some higher render-times.

Thank’s for answering:), but i didn’t have time to fix it so I skipped the GI and faked it instead.
