Fumefx alpha matte iusses

Hey guys so I have this stove that has fire coming out of it with smoke and all. I rendered the backround scene sperate as a diffrent pass in maya, and I am doing the fire and smoke part in fume. All I want is the alpha of the oven so it looks like the flames are coming out of it. I used the matte/shadow shader on the oven and while it works with the objects when I put the my fire and smoke in there it seems to put the alpha on top of my flames, and im also getting some weird artifacts on the stove. I know this might seem like a newb question but if any one can shed some light on what Im possibly doing wrong that would be great. I have attached some images that that show the stove and then the alpha blocking it.

Can’t totally tell what’s going on there, but on the matte/shadow material, is “Apply atmosphere” -> “at object depth” set?
