Fume Fx Tyre smoke effect

#1

Hey,

Ive been playing around with Fume Fx the last few days as Ive heard this is the easiest way to produce tyre burnout type effects in Max. Im looking to create something like this

or a bit thicker

looks incredible! Im having trouble getting it to actually act like that and getting it like quite a thin smoke like in the 1st video.

any help appreciated

What are your fumefx settings? You might need to increase your smoke settings under obj/src tab.

For thick FumeFX smoke: create & position an omni or spotlight to the scene and check its Shadows to On and to Raytraced. Under the light’s Shadow Param. check Atmosphere Shadows On. In the FFX panel UI, Tab > Rendering > Smoke > check on both Cast Shadows & Receive Shadows. The smoke’s opacity field can also tweak the smoke’s thickness overall, and the Smoke amount on the FFX source type Helpers.
