That’s good news!.. lets hope they also port afterburn to maya. That’s another awesome plugin IMO
I would go more for Thinkin Particles… but krakatoa would also kick ass
That’s a really good news. Me happy.
As for you guys looking for a Krakatoa-like renderer in Maya, you should try Exocortex Fury which is currently in Beta. Really awesome.
Phoneix FD for Maya which is already out is also way super fast & gives kickass detail as Fume FX. but overall its a good news as Autodesk is doing nothing to improve themselves but updates likes this can keep Maya people alive
i’ll celebrate when i see it working “AS IT DOES IN MAX”. keep in mind maya’s core is different from max so a 1:1 port is…well…difficult. Maya’s fluid is slow because of the redraw in the viewport. if you command line sim in Maya, the sim is fast…faster i should say. If FumeFX gets ported with out the little preview window then you can just already assume that FumeFx in maya is going to be the same as Maya Fluids.
Ooh, interesting. As someone that is just now getting into fluid fx, how does maya fluid compare to fume fx? Only thing i’ve heard is that fume fx is much easier to work with?

I don’t think they’d ship it without it, assuming that’s likely the target market of the standalone version.
It’s not out yet, but I’m sure you could contact them and find out.
I heard they are not ready to launch it commercially yet (Fume fx for Maya). The plugin exists, but they do not allow the beta users to use it for production, they want to tweak a few things first, so maybe we can expect - that is my opinion - to see the plugin released somewhere in the first half of 2013.
