Full Body IK ?

I would like to use a Full Body IK on my character.

Unfortunately, I never used this feature and have no clue how it works.
First, I also would like to point out what I am looking for.

I would like to have a similar BIPED system, which can be found in 3dsmax.

Is the FBIK inside Maya the same thing ?

its the same kind of thing but the controls are different. and they are both quite unique. biped in max is crazy powerful and u get blend mocap with hand animations. with fbik you cant really do that unless roundtrip to motionbuilder

you often see people saying FBIK is shit and i understand why but ive used it quite a bit and you can get good results but its finiky because there are so many controls. sometimes things can become weird but ive almost always found a good reason for the problems if i invest the time.

for example at one point i was having horrible hand animations fingers going haywire but i had solve fingers turned on so fbik was trying to automatically solve the fingers. once i turned that off i could animate them normally. but if you havent read thu the help and put in some time youll get pissed off lol

but i think its worth learning being that autodesk seems commited to the technology now.

if your using maya 2009 or 2010 or 2011 look for the script from youneedthisman.com called bipedfactory which sets up the biped automatically and lets you scale bones and save out templates like max biped. i dont think its on his page anymore but ive got it…email if u want it bt maybe is on creativecrash.

anzovin setup machine is a much more comprehensive biped solution for straight ahead animation but you have to buy it. its got crazy control for bending limbs and squash and stretch which fbik does not have plus it doesnt seem finicky like fbik.
