Full Body IK in Maya 2011

#1

Dear Forum members,

I just watched this tutorial about FBIK in Maya on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KYaO-TOV9Q

I did the following steps like the instructor did but instead of getting the handles I only get big spheres at my skeleton when adding the FBIK system. And the rig behaves differently. When the guy stretches the arm towards the upper left for example, the whole skeleton moves nicely. But my rig is not moving. Even if I unpin everything. Is there a different workflow in Maya 2011?

Best, Michael

If your control spheres are large it is because your skelleton is smaller than the default size. You can edit the size of the controller display, in the Attribute Editor under HIK Effector Attributes below Look adjust the Radius or you can edit all of them at the same time in the Attribute Spreadsheet Editor under All/Radius column.

To have the entire rig follow the hand you have to be in Full Body mode.

If you are in 2011, I am not sure how different this is but it is the basic idea.
