Freeware Game Dev Team In Need of 2D Artist

#1

Space-Time Games, a small freeware game developement group, is currently searching for a graphic artist to volunteer for our next project. Our new game is a 2D flip-screen tribute/enhancement/expansion of the original Cybernoid series of games; a one time popular ‘shmup’ series on the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 computers.

A compilation of our finnished works can be found on our website:

http://www.spacetimegames.co.uk/games.htm

Click on the title of any game to find screenshots, information and the accompanying download link for the title.

The engine for the game is at near 100% completion, and graphics are now needed to continue the project. That’s where you come in.

What we’re looking for is an artist capable of creating:

  • animated spirtes
  • backgrounds
  • borders
  • possibly fire, explosion and other particle animations

All of this is to be based on the original graphics to have, albeit an enhanced, look and feel of the original.

We’re looking for Amiga/SNES quality graphics. Some examples of the style can be found here:

and here:

We’ve thought about the idea of using pre-rendered 3D graphics, but the sprites would have to fit in a no larger than 32x32 pixel matrix.

If interested, have any questions or suggestions please either respond in this thread as I’ll be checking it regularly, or e-mail me at:

namanie@yahoo.com

Please submit a link to your work. If you don’t currently have web hosting services, just e-mail me some examples.

As this is freeware, we do not claim ownership over any part of this project, nor do we intend to make profits from it. This game is purely a labor of love, and any and all help is apreciated. If your art is used in this game, you will be properly credited for it and you may keep and distribute this game as you wish, provided you are not profiting from it specificaly. Using it as part of your professional portfolio is entirely acceptable, and we tell all artists that have participated in our works, if it aids them, to do so. Also, if we like you and you happen to live near by, we might just invite you out for a beer!

So come join the team and let’s have fun updating this blast from the past!

I just wanted to say thank you to all those that took the time to read this thread. An artist has been found and we will be able to resume working on this project.

Thanks again.
