four corner probs in combustion

#1

Hi! I’m in the process of transferring from Shake to Combustion 4 and want to cornerpin (doing the four corner thing) to several layers at once. I want all the layers to have exactly the same transformation but can’t figure out a way to do this. There doesn’t seem to be a numerical interface for specifying location of points and doing it by eye isn’t that accurate… is there any way of doing this on the composite level rather than to each individual layer?
Also tried parenting layers but they don’t seem to inherit the transformation… am i missing something really obvious?
Thanks in advance…

You can “nest” selected layers. The selected layers are then put together in a sub composite which feeds into a normal layer at the normal hierarchy. You can then animate the four point of this layer.
If you wanted to do it seperately. The coordinates of the layer are to be found in the timeline channel view. There you could link those by expressions. Usually though the first approach makes more sense.

thanks Kai! nested layers solved the problem!

Sometimes nesting just makes things more complex to deal with. Not always but in some cases you may want to use the quick pick to create an expression which links the deform parameters.

The advantage to nesting your layers of course is you only need to change the nested layer position and all of them follow.
