"Fluidity" of the playing : what paramters to look at ?

Hi,
I have some “lag” issues in my rendered sequences. I think I did something wrong with the fps.
I composited all the frames at 25 fps, should I also render the anim at the same rate, or can the composited sequences and the rendering have different frame rates without any problem ??
perhaps I’m wrong when I identify fps as being the problem.

So, what do you usually do to preserve a certain “fluidity” in your animations ? what are the critical parameters influencing fluidity ?
