Fluid Artifacts

#1

Hi guys !
I am new in fluid experimentation, working on a short movie for friends, and I am always having the same issue with my fluid, those diamond shape artifact, and I can’t find how to correct my set up.
May anyone know what is the problem and how I could try to solve it ?

Thank you so much to help me out !

My guess is that it is the density noise… try making it zero. When the velocity divergence is high like at the beginning the density noise has a strong effect. Perhaps instead you could use emission turbulence. Also I would avoid the density tension and density tension force if you want more natural looking smoke.

I have same problem.

And this…

Hey mate thanks for your help,
I think it did help a bit to remove the noise and the tension forces. Something like 50% solved.
Maybe my speed emission from my nparticule is to fast ?
still digging ! 8)
Thanks

It is not quite the same problem. However the triangle shapes are individual voxels. If you do a software render with renderInterpolator set to smooth on the fluid shape you shouldn’t see them. (however even with the smooth interpolation one can sometimes see the voxel grid when the density change across a voxel is strong)

In terms of the hardware draw one can improve the effect by using viewport 2.0 which has a smoother interpolation method. (it is also quite a bit faster) However on the old viewport draw setting the fluid’s voxelQuality to “better” can help.
