Fk fingers on Ik arm

#1

Hi,

I am working on a basic rig for my humanoid character. I will use this rig to pose my character.

I ran into problem. I have an Ik arm which works as it should until I connect Fk finger controls to the finger bones (I point constraint and orient constraint controls to the bone). When I do that the fingers work but they don’t move with the wrist control and I cannot find the way to fix it.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi,
Try parenting the wrist control instead of the finger controls to the IK tip joint of the arm or the wrist ikJoint.

I didn’t explain myself correctly. My wrist control is parent constrained to the arm Ik handle (actually to the twist bone, with the pivot moved), finger controls are point constrained and orient constrained to the finger bones.I also tried parent constraint, didn’t work. Finger controls are children of the wrist control.

I can rotate the wrist with the fingers, I can properly bend fingers, but when I try to move the arm around the fingers stay in their original position and do not move with the rest of the arm.

Howdy,

You may have to post your file or a trimmed down version so folks here can analyze the issue.

Adios,

how do I post a file here?

This is the file. If anyone can take a look at it I will be very grateful.

Hi,
All you are missing is :
Constraint the wrist ctrl to the ik handle.
Constraint the wrist ctrl to the wrist joint>>>> break the twist rotation ie, RX alone.
constraint the wrist ctrl to the twist joint>>>> break all constraints except RX.

Thank you for your time.
Did it work when you did it? Maybe I am doing something wrong, but when I constraint to the twist bone it jumps off. What type of constraint should I use in every step?

just mark the offset before constrainting

That’s right, the maintain offset little check box! it worked ! I don’t do rigging often, this one made my head spin. Facial rigging will probably kill me  thanks god I don’t need it for this project!

Thank you.

Actually all this makes the wrist rotate with the fingers, but the fingers still stay in place (like they are glued to the coordinates where they are located) if I try to move the wrist around…
