Fixing (sharpening?) a reference image for modeling project

#1

Hi,

I am a total photoshop-noob and I’m trying to find an easy way to fix this image for a reference in modeling project:
http://www.the-blueprints.com/index.php?blueprints/cars/seat/985/

As you can see it’s kind of soft and dark along the bottom of the car and as such not very helpful as a reference (rotoscope) in modeling (XSI). Is there anyway to fix this easily in either Photoshop elements or GIMP? (I don’t have the full photoshop).

I already asked about this in another forum and somebody suggested using threshold. I coudn’t really get the image better using that.

Thanks!

i gave it a test but unfortunately there isn’t much more info in this picture. the details and some values are gone

i resized it with different plugins to 2000px, adjusted values, sharpness etc etc
the results wasn’t much better then the original except bigger

you need better pic i think
