Decided to learn something new today:

The first elements were the deer carcass, and the father. You’ll see jitter and mistakes, well a lot more than the later elements. For the father, I made a lot of mistakes, mostly the face and the front of his coat.
In the begining I was doing track, move points almost every frame, make adjustments almost every frame. It made things look horrible and jittery. Later on, I started just tracking a rough outline of the shape starting from when had the best view of the object (it seemed to track better), and I got the motion down, then went back and fixed the shape as needed. And when I moved the points, I moved them in groups… it seemed the best way to go. Started to treat it more like animation software in the end.
The time spent learning this was enjoyed. In the end my appreciation for good roto and tracking work went up a lot as this stuff is hard. Any tips you can toss to me? I’m planning on doing another clip in a couple months.
