First project using matte painting, comments

#1

Hi!

I have done several 3D projects for events and commercials, but just lately i have been more interested in matte painting and using it in my 3d projects… Here is a breakdown clip from one of my projects, where i tried matte painting as backdrop… Remember, it’s not meant to be realistic, only to be in “right mood”. Just testing what i can greate from bunch of pics and photoshop…

All comments are more than welcome!

HI welcome to this forums and to the art of matte painting as well, I have a couple of suggestions for the matte painting you did
first, always use linear perspective in every element you are using, some of the elements are off perspective, also if you have a night mood I would suggest that you should try to use the blue color in all your ambient lighting, and be careful with you main light source, in this case is the moon, which for my taste need more bloom , glow a little bit more stronger
the moon light is on the left side and the keylight on the city is coming from the right, that looks really weird, that’s probably the biggest issue .
hope this helps
