First Modo model - flexible screwdriver

#1

Hi all

I’ve had Modo for a few weeks now and here’s my first model. It’s a flexible screwdriver - I’m going to be using the new bend tool to demonstrate the flexibility of the springy thing which is just visible in the pic. The pic is rendered in Lightwave with FPrime.

The model is mainly quads but there are also quite a few n-gons and I’ve used edge creasing on the handle. I have had some minor issues with the edge creasing - it often seems to crease the geometry or create other odd effects - but playing around can sometimes get rid of these. It seems quicker to sharpen edges with loop slice, though this doesn’t seem to be a problem as it is very easy to remove unwanted loops/edges. The edge tools are very good. I am very pleased with Modo. I think it is a great piece of software.

Best regards

Thanks for the comment Griffon.

Nobrain - the spring is made using the lathe tool. I followed the method in one of the video tutorials - the one about using the math tool to compress a spring, or something like that.
