Fire rendering problem?

#1

Hi, guys. I have a problem with maya 2015. I have to create a scene with some fire in it. I created the scene, with fire and all, but when I try to render it, you can’t see the fire. Why is that? I can see it as a 3D model, but it doens not appear in the final render.

go to window>general editors>attribute spread sheet and under render tab make sure primary visibility is on, if its reflected or refracted visible in refra/refle option should also be on. also check if it has a shader assigned, if it does not - it will simply not show up in your render. other than that - I have no idea :stuck_out_tongue:

what type of fire is it?

Is it geo? polygons/nurbs

Is it done with maya fluids?

Is it done with particles?

If you are using particles the only 2 renderers capable of rendering it in vanilla maya is software and mentalray.

I think we need more info to be able to help you.

Well… I used another method and now it works. I was checking a tutorial from digital-tutors, because I’m new in maya, so I can’t tell you what kind of fire it was. I wanted to apply that fire paint effect on a poly cone and it didn’t work why I tried to render it. Now I checked some videos on youtube and I found another way to use a similar effect. Thanks anyway.
