Final Gather Map Files Merged

#1

What is the correct workflow for merging multiple final gather maps?

I have a scene with 4 different camera views. They’re just stills, but we need to bake the global illumination to texture, so I generated and saved a final gather map from each camera.

When I set the Rebuild mode to FREEZE, and render from say Camera1 with Camera1.fgmap, it looks great.

But when I try to merge all 4 fgmap files, there are horrible black artifacts everywhere in the renders, like Camera1 is using Camera4’s fgmap rather than the combined fgmap data.

Each of the cameras, rendering using only their own generated fgmap, work perfectly, the problem arrises when merging the fgmaps.

Does anyone have any advice and/or solutions?

I’m bumping this because I still haven’t solved the issue.

I’ve tried caching the FG from various camera angles, as well as baking the lightmap without caching the FG, and I still get horrible quality inconsistency across the scene, with some areas of the mesh appearing to be baked at ultra low quality and others at high quality.

No idea what I’m doing wrong. I just want FG to treat all areas of the scene consistently.
