Looking better and better…Roof looks ace! …maybe cut the specularity a bit more?

#202

Which front looks better ?

#203

As much as I like the stone, the wood is much more along the theme. I really do like the wood. Not by much though. I do agree about the specular. Maybe if it were drawing shadows in a map… Are you going to use VRay to do the rendering in this? That would be sweet if someone who had VRay could render this. I really love that renderer.

The more I think about it, the more I like the wood front. Good job

#204

hi there, i’ve been following this project since the beginning, really loving the work being created here…

Well my thoughts on the front of the house is that the first one (with the more dirty look, without the plywood lines) is better… but i do not have the best eye for detail

keep up the top work

#205

agree with omega3d. I prefer the wooden one aswell

#206

I think the second version is the nicer of the 2. The Planks give it a more believable look, having it as one large board looks a little odd now that i see it with the planks.

I love the new roof too, it is a very cute looking dog house…I think it is pretty much good to go to be honest.

#207

I forgot who made the spray cans, but I have some problems importing into 3dsmax7.
Maybe .3ds would work better. For now I used placeholders.

This is another WIP, I don’t know if it’s okay to post WIP’s here, but I’ll do it anyway, so people can tell me if I’m on the right track.
Most of it is based on the original sketch, some parts are my idea.

I couldn’t start texturing it just yet, because I’m waiting for another version of the mower, the one you see now has some problems (somehow smooths are 10x as strong as they should, and it’s all 1 model, not seperate ones).
Although I did start building some bits and things around it.

I don’t know what’s the use of the cans. If it’s propulsion, then I’ll delete the wooden boards (mudguards?).

#208

A few suggestions…
The purpose of the machine is just to throw the ball.
This machine will not move at all.
So the use of mud flaps is not needed.
It is important to give the idea of it having to
stabilize it self to be able to trow the ball and not tip over…
So the reason for the rakes is to get a strong grip into the dirt.

As for the throwing arm it needs to look stronger.
So if you can make it much fatter/thicker to give it that look of power !

The spray cans are supposed to be hydraulics for the small rakes to go
up and down. So a tube will go from the spray cans to the small rakes.

I converted the spray cans to .OBJ format so look for it in my “omar” folder.

Other then that looking good.

#209

Hey Bot, I managed to try the OBJ file in max and i didn’t seem to have the smoothing issue you were talking about? not sure what is happening with yours there. I asked BOY1DA to test it as well and he said it was OK.

As for the object being one object, I think you need to explode it using the explode feature in Max. I tried this and it seemed to break the elements into objects when i used a figure of 100. As I have no idea how this works it might not be precise but it looks ok.

I have uploaded the max file to the server and you can try it if you want.

Cheers

The house walls are textured and dropped into the scene.
Hope it looks like wood this time…

Still working on the drain pipe and flower, I may put a flower box
on the window instead of the single flower pot. The door model is by the freak.
It had some details that I liked, so I dropped it in.

As you can see , I may have to extend the ground.
I’m not sure yet, I may put stepping stones or a wood deck
or maybe concrete with grass growing out of the cracks
for the boy to lay on.

I will also put small rocks and pebbles on the ground.

The image above was rendered with vray, the one below
is rendered with the scan line default render, just to
speed up the texturing process.

#214

WOW Big O you rock my world!! :stuck_out_tongue:

It is looking great, I love the texture on the door, and the walls of the house do indeed look like wood :stuck_out_tongue: Great detail with the dirt at the bottom too, it is looking fantastic.

#215

Oh my god. Amazing work man! I feel so untalented when I look at your work
You can do the mowerbeast any time, I’m sure I’m not even getting close to your style

Been following the thread…awesome work so far. Wow

Have been following this thread since the beginning.
I love the style. Great models and textures.
Looking forward to see the final movie!

#218

Schweet work guys…The wood looks woody  with the grain texture added the way you have it now…smallish distraction with the wood all being blueish, but it looks smashing either way. :buttrock:

#219

Wow, everything looks great, rock on O! :buttrock:
