I am in first year of industrial design and really interested in improving my modellig. I took this as a long term project (i want to make it look as realistic as I can, I actually own the guitar) but would like to check if the fundations and basic topology are fine. Here I show you a quick render I made with standard mental ray materials and several wireframe pics. I know it is a simple project but for me it is a challenge.

Accuracy looks really good, my Dad owned an original  plus your topology is nice and tight. So overall doing well so far.

Looks really good.

People will sometimes have a problem with the things I circled. I think if your model looks good and it’s not deforming it shouldn’t matter, but having your geometry in quads (stuff in green), as well as keeping unused edges to a minimum (stuff in red), is considered good foundation. The way I was taught was to use 3 edges to hold an edge also, one for the beginning of the arc, one for the peak, and one for the end. I don’t know if that’s a standard but where you have your bevel, I normally have another edge running through it (stuff in blue). Either way, the model looks pretty much spot on though. Nice job.

You can’t imagine how much I appreciate your replies. Artishard, I will try what you told me and will keep posting progress soon.
