Feedback on Animations

#1

I have only recently started getting into computer animation and I was hoping feedback and comments from members of this forum would help me improve on the way. So I’d like to use this thread for whenever I finish a piece and would like some advice and feedback.

For the first animation clip, I went with a simple walk cycle. I tried applying many of the principles of animation in there. I used the ‘Simple Bot’ rig from Creative Crash for this one.

Thanks!

i’ll be short but i think he is walking too fast, he should pretty much be walking like a zombie.

I think it looks pretty neat. You could possibly add a little more bounce to its body to give a better impression of mass.

I made it so that he takes a stride every 12 frames. I kind of guessed it–perhaps I should add few more frames. I’ll play around with the curves in the GE.

I was thinking of adding some squash and stretch, you know, like a bouncing ball but not too exaggerated.

I do have a question though. Do the antenna look all right? I thought they would be lagging behind (like how the toes would) but they look a bit off to me. Or is that perhaps I have been staring at it for far too long?

Thanks for the tips! I’m currently working on yet another walk cycle, this time it’s more human-like. I’ll render it once it’s done and once again, some feedback would be appreciated.

Hello again.

I tried to go back to the basics to work on my skills. So I have done several bouncing ball animations.

#1 I used a basketball as a reference for this piece. There’s a subtle addition of squash and stretch.

#2 This one compares light and heavy weight balls’ bounces. For this one I looked at bowling and ping pong balls.

Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Up next is animating the ball with tail to demonstrate overlapping action and follow through.
