Feature Film: Untitled, Fantasy, w/investors

#1

Looking for animators, modelors, art director types to help with a demo/trailer for a fantasy trilogy. Investors w/ international distribution channel and good track record are interested and waiting to see what we can produce.

Anything you can bring to the table would be great. Use of 3rd party models is cool as long as you have appropriate rights. Fantasy sets and special effects is what we need.

Interested? Contact me for more information.

Thanks!

Matt

We’re considering licensing D&D as the backdrop for the story. Right now we’re spec-ing out the Dragonlance story. Anyone out there like doing dragon animations?

Here's a description of some animations of a red dragon necessary to the story:

[ol]
[li] Sleeping in a big castle chamber, kind of curled up, then wakes up, brings his head up and sniffs the air, looks back and forth. (Smoke escaping nostrils with breathing would be a nice touch.)
[/li][li] Talking, several seconds, enough to say a one line sentence, like “What have you done, fool!” Any position works, but suggest up on all fours, menacing, with head down at human level to talk to a human sized creature.
[/li][li] A few seconds worth of flying, then landing in a courtyard.
[/li][/ol] If you get motivated to try one of these, shoot for either NTSC 720x480 30fps (dvd demo) or HD 1920x1080 24fps (final version).

For more details, or if you're interested in getting involved but would like to do something else, message me or post here.

do you have any concept art or a style that you are shooting for?

Try looking here for reference art:

If this link doesn’t work, just look for the original Larry Elmore cover for Dragons of Autumn Twilight (or any of the Dragonlance novels.)

Basically, the ideal look for a DL movie would be halfway between photorealistic and the stylized look of his paintings. But, any cool looking dragon would suffice.

For the demo, we can afford to cut corners, but for the final project, we have to bring dragons to life like never before.

I’m interested in learning more about your project. Do you folks have a website?

This project doesn’t have a website yet. There are some things that need to be finalized before we can launch a site – one of them is a demo/trailer! For now, we’re just a few guys putting together a Dragonlance “proof of concept” demo. Even if the darn thing only lasts 30 seconds, it raises investor confidence immeasurably. Raising investor confidence means getting more money at better terms. Helping us get more money at better terms means we can pay people (like you if you get involved) better when production and post production start.

There is currently no script for the trailer. If you have a cool idea for a dragon animation, go for it. If you’d like ideas, but don’t like the ones I already listed, PM me. Your work remains your work with the only caveat being that we can represent you as part of the team that will be working on the movie.

If you’re stuck or put off by the animation ideas, try just rendering a still. Let’s find a look and work with it until it’s something interesting.
