Feature Film: Heroes, Villians and Everything In Between

#1

Okay folks, things are finally coming together for my little movie based on my character Flog and Alienboy.

It will be a 45 minute feature. There is a part 2 as well, so we may combine the 2.

What is in place at this time. Right now the story is a go. It has been tightened up and the long hard look for a concept artist has come to an end. I finally found the artist who can really work the characters the way they need to, with a very intensley cool style.

Right now I’m looking for the next step and that is 3d Modellers and riggers.

This movie is for commercial reasons, so there is some upfront pay, but it is a humble payment, but profit sharing is also included upon completion of the film.

How will the film get done, a mixture of traditional animation, rotoscoping and mocap to speed things up.

So I’m also looking for good C4D riggers.

The files will need to be either in C4D format or OBJ.

Here is the first model needing to be modelled out

Cool design. I had to.

#3

I agree with Dmonk that is an awesome design.

Cool work Dmonk

#4

Thanks Psyko!

I worked on it a little more when I got home today.

I love characters like this.
Flog I hope you don’t mind.

#5

Nice update dmonk…
He will look kool when you make his belt.

#6

DMonk, this is looking really good. You should put it into a rendering program to see how it looks.

I can’t wait to show you all the characters. I’m still in descision making process as I have a partner I have to go through at this time.

I do love what you are doing with the model. Very good capture of the spirit of the character himself, although there are a few areas such as he lacks the girth as the first picture which is really a true representation of the character, he does not seem as massive or heavy as the character needs to be, he has to much neck, and he looks as if he is wearing shoes.

However this model has great muscle tone, is keeping with the clean style of the look I’m going for. Just some thoughts, but it is a very good looking model. You are definately a strong modeller.

Thanks Flog!

Yeah, I got a little carried away, easy fixes though. The feet are just stand in. I thought in the model sheet that they were stone feet. Did a little more tonight. I tried to figure out how to do a rock texture on the stone hands. This was a test, but now that I know how to go about it I can tweak it to spec.

#8

Another try at the stone hands.

#9

Looking pretty good. You must be using the newest 2.0 features. Great job! I’m so excited to get to show you the further characters coming out.

#10

So here are the normal/displacment/color map rendered in xsi, Still need some tweaking.

#11

Wow DMonk.

I’m going to have to show this to Lysol

I think he’d like it but I think he’d have some critique as well. I’ll let you know what he says.

Thanks

#12

I didn’t address your crits from before just yet, I’ve been trying to get the hands right.

#13

Nice work guys.

#14

Small update:

Happy Holidays!

#15

Kool , looks like you should BEEF UP the chain belt a bit…
I’m sure you will also add some wrinkles and rough up the pants a bit.

#16

Flog, good find on the concept artist. I like this character and can’t wait to see the rest!

Great job dmonk! I’d agree with BOY1DA though, bigger chain links would be a worthwhile enhancement to this model. Your have an interesting style that shows in your models.

No disrespect meant to dmonk’s model, but I really like the design and would like to give it a shot. Would I be stepping on any toes if I attempted to model this character?

#17

hey take a crack it if you want, on the silo3d forum there are a ton of folks taking a crack at this character. I’m sure we’d all like to see it.

#18

Go for it dude!

#19

wow DMONK the more I look at your model the better it looks. I would love to see him animated.

#20

Thanks flog! I’m not an animator though. I could rig him and pose him when I finish him up, but animating isn’t really my thing. I 'm glad you like the model though. I kind of took a break from this over the holiday to get a few other things out of my head and worked out in 3d. I can get back to this with some fresh eyes later this week.
